Lammack Juniors Football Club was formed in January 1997, with the
aim of giving local children of all abilities, the opportunity to
play football and develop basic skills.
It was soon
obvious through the demand and interest shown by the children that
there was a niche to be filled in the Lammack and Pleckgate districts.
In May of our foundation year, the club was structured so that there
was progression for our original under 8s by forming both under
9s and under 10s teams, which increased the membership from sixteen
to sixty. The teams represented the club in the Blackburn and Darwen
Junior League and were kindly allowed to use the facilities of the
Old Blackburnians AFC. This provided the club with a local base,
enabling them to establish themselves as a 'family club'.
In 2001/2002, to maintain the standards of the club, it was essential
that we had the support of the Old Blackburnians AFC with whom we
became affiliated members that year. This has given us the local
base we needed to continue as a club for the community.
At the start
of the 2003/2004 season the club started a Saturday fun club which
replaced the clubs “waiting list”. This enabled children,
who were non-members of the club, the chance to play football on
a weekly basis while waiting for a place to become available within
the club. It was this year that the club was awarded the Charter
Standard Standard from the LFA.
During the 2004/05 season the club started a section for children
with disabilities. These children train on Saturday mornings &
gives then an opportunity to play football on a regular basis
This
season there are teams represented from boys under 7s, 8s, 9s, 10s
and girls under 10s & 11s playing small sided games. In addition
the boys under 11s, 12s, 13s, 14s,15s and 16s & girls under
13s & 15s are playing 11-a-side games. This amounts to two hundred
and fifty young people taking part in coaching sessions during the
week and organised matches on Sundays.
